- 10th July - 10am-5pm. CREATE’s Solar Powered Party. Smeaton Road, Cumberland Basin, Bristol, BS1 6XN. Create’s solar and pedal-powered celebration of low carbon living. Free children’s activities plus hands-on demos, workshops and energy saving advice from the experts. Have fun in the sun with live music and locally sourced food and drink. Join in with pedal-powered fun, bike scalextric, solar boat making, live music and much more. Includes the magical Explorer Dome show and an appearance by a Bristol City Footballer. - 24th July - 12-3pm. Bioblitz. Brandon Hill, off Park Street, BS1. Join scientists, naturalists, and wildlife enthusiasts and help find as many species as possible in 3 hours. www.bioblitzuk.org.uk. FREE.
- 24th July - 3-6pm - Book Launch and Barbecue at the Thunderbolt, Bath Rd, Bristol. You are invited to celebrate the launch of Tangent’s new children’s book The Cupboard Monster by Peter Franklin, illustrated by Nick law and with an MP3 soundtrack by Jon Seagroatt. Bring the kids and join in the fun at The Thunderbolt pub on Bath Road, Totterdown, where Peter will be signing books and performing the Cupboard Monster and other songs. The Thunderbolt has a large garden and play area. - 30th July - Bristol Harbour Festival - The biggest and best free city centre event in the South West of England. This event is great fun with lots for all the family. The Children’s Play Area will spread across the area around St Peter’s Church this year, and highlights will include a crazy golf course, trampolines, a new wild play area, inflatafun and a climbing wall. The Children’s Stage is also back with live shows throughout the day and the workshop marquee will be jam-packed with arts and crafts.
