Caerwent
10 miles from Caerleon on the A48 or from Bristol M4 then M48 J2 Having visited the museum at Caerleon you could stop off at the wonderfully preserved town of Caerwent where the remains of shops, a courtyard house, temple and forum can be seen. In the 4th century A.D, when the Romans were struggling to retain power, a high wall was built around the town, most of which still stands today.
