Hidden in woodland, this fairytale castle, complete with conical roofed towers, working portcullis and drawbridge, looks convincingly medieval. It was, however, built in the late 19th century for the Marquis of Bute. The inside remains faithful to the Victorian era being richly furnished and decorated. Worksheet for children in shop and audio guide available, suitable for 8+yrs. Woodland trail around castle not suitable for buggies. Coffee shop open Apr-Sep.
