'The Downs' is Bristol's most famous open space with grassland and some wooded space. An Act of Parliament preserved it for the people of the city in 1861. It is very popular with footballers, joggers, kite flyers and dog walkers. The Circular Road offers dramatic views of the Gorge, the Suspension Bridge and Wales. Toilets can be found near the viewpoint on the Sea Walls and at the Water Tower. The Downs are usually host to annual events such as the Flower Show, the Circus and a superb fireworks display. Popular cafe/tearooms, located next to the Water Tower.
