Impressive caves located in spectacular gorge. The two main caves to explore are 'Gough's' with it's cathedral-like caverns and 'Cox's' with it's stunning formations and colours. Excellent explorer audio guide of Gough's cave (5+yrs). Buggies can be taken into the caves, although they will have to be left in certain places and picked up later. Baby back packs are fine, watch the head room. Also: The Cheddar Man museum which looks at Stone Age man and cannibalism, The Crystal Quest - discover dimly-lit caves inhabited by wizards, goblins, fairy princesses and dragons; an open top bus tour of the Gorge during summer; Jacobs ladder - a 274 step climb to the top of the gorge with fantastic views of the Mendips from the lookout tower. From here there is a 3-mile waymarked circular walk around the Gorge. The caves also offer caving, climbing and abseiling for 11+yrs, see website for further details. Further down the gorge you can watch the famous cheese being made.
