The Abbey was founded in 1232 as a nunnery and transformed into a family home in the 16th century. Children's quiz and spacious grounds to explore. Front-carrying baby slings for loan. The Museum of Photography commemorates the life of William Henry Fox Talbot who made the earliest known photographic negative. The upper gallery has changing exhibitions. The medieval village with its many lime washed half-timbered houses has been used as a location for several period dramas such as Pride and Prejudice. The Abbey was also used to film parts of the Harry Potter films. There is a small children's play area opposite the museum and lots of places to eat in the village.
